Coronavirus – precautions being taken by members

Dan Radcliffe – Hastings MR

We are intending to operate with open coaches and close off every other compartment to spread people out. Coaches are to be cleaned each trip and hand sanitizer will be accessible for passengers. Staff are all being provided with surgical gloves. Notices are being displayed to explain risks and setting out how we are trying to minimise contamination and asking passengers to take necessary precautions.
This has been discussed with our local authority who are at present happy for us to continue operating with these precautions in place.
Please feel free to pass this on to other operators.
I have also attached a screen shot taken from our local authorities website (link sent by our council) explaining about additional funding and how it is dispensed to small businesses for anyone who is unsure.

BHLR & Pecorama – Coronavirus COVID-19. Important information on opening dates and facilities.

Following the recent guidelines from the government regarding social distancing we have taken the difficult decision to close certain areas of the site to the public to aid the aim of slowing down the spread of this new illness.

From Wednesday 18th March 2020 the Garden Room Restaurant, the Play Station indoor play area, the Orion Pullman carriage and the Indoor Model Railway Exhibition will be closed until at least after Easter. The exact length of time will depend on future government guidance and the spread of the virus. We will keep our website and social media channels updated with information as the situation evolves.

OPEN
On the positive side we still plan on opening up our beautiful and now dog-friendly gardens from Saturday 21st March until after Easter. During this period entry to the gardens will be free. We currently still plan on operating the Beer Heights Light Railway and tickets will be available separately for this at £3 per person. We also will have our Crazy Golf course open, again with tickets being £3 per person. Although the Garden Room restaurant will be closed, we plan to offer take-away snacks and meals from our open-air food outlets, the Junction and the Whistle Stop to enjoy around the gardens. Our Model and Gift Shop will remain open to the public until further notice.

All Events during March and April have been cancelled, this includes Mothering Sunday, Andeer Line and Easter events as well as our first 3 Railway Modelling courses. We will review the situation beyond this time in the next few weeks and update the website with the latest information.

The health and safety of our staff and visitors is our top priority, so we have initiated extensive additional cleaning measures in all areas. We are also asking all visitors to only pay with credit or debit cards (contactless whenever possible) and we will be operating as a cashless site to help minimise any unnecessary contact between people.

Finally, please follow government guidance regarding self-isolation and do not visit Pecorama if you or anyone in your household has symptoms of the Coronavirus COVID-19. Anyone exhibiting symptoms of the virus on site will be asked to leave. https://www.gov.uk/…/stay-at-home-guidance-for-households-w…
