Melton Mowbray Miniature Railway

The Melton Mowbray Miniature Railway was brought to its current location in 1974/75 from Hamworthy Park in Dorset. It has always been operated by a 4w petrol (later diesel) mechanical locomotive with the same coaches since new in 1968.

The Railway and stock have been restored by the TBLRCo and is operated under licence from the Melton Mowbray Town Estate.

Reopened over Easter 2022, the locomotive was restored to original condition and formally named ‘Wilton’ after the park in which it operates. The line is a 750ft long oval track in the beautifully maintained park in Melton.

Train rides cost £2 per person and are for 2 circuits of the track. Opening times are 10 until 4 and the aim is to open every Saturday and Sunday (weather permitting) from Easter to October.

There is a page on our website dedicated to the railway
